The embroidery group was formed 25 years ago, in 1999, to fulfil a project to create the Millennium Embroidery which hangs in the Village Hall. Over the past 25 years the focus of the group has changed and it is felt that the time is now right for a ‘rebranding’.
After much discussion and voting the group has chosen to now be known as Longhorsley Friendly Crafters. We hope this new title reflects that whilst we do embroidery, we also knit, crochet, sew, quilt, do tapestry, lace making and anything else which can be classed as a needlecraft.
We welcome new members and anyone wishing to learn a new skill to join us on the first Friday of each month (not January) from 2pm - 4pm in Longhorsley Village Hall.
For further information contact Val Douglas on 07483 233074.
The Art Group will meet on the 13th December, and then again on the 10th and 24th January.
Our Paper Crafting evening produced some wonderful flowers, even from those of us who were unsure at the beginning. It was particularly enjoyable to share it with one new Member and two visitors.
Our next Meeting, on Thursday 5th December, will be our Christmas Quiz night when we will also hear from the Members who attended the afternoon WI Carol Service at Newcastle Cathedral.
On Thursday 2nd January we will be holding our Cinema night.
