Message from the governor
In case you haven’t heard, the Dover Moose Lodge has been named
the 2011 Dover NH Chamber of Commerce Non Profit Business of the
year. Let’s take a second and think about what this means. It means that
the city of Dover realizes and appreciates all of our hard work to make our
community a better place for those in need. It also means that we are no
longer the best kept secret in town and have an opportunity to gain new
membership. But to me, this award means that our work has just started.
Sure, we can rest on our laurels thinking that we can slow down in our sup-
port of the community. We can complain about the influx of new faces that
want to be a part of our group. We can sit on the mountaintop looking
down upon everyone else because we have been considered to be one of
the best. But that’s not even remotely close to being who we are. I believe
that our membership can and will take this award and move us to even
greater heights. We will go into the coming year working even harder to
make our community a better place to live. We will hold more fundraisers
for those in need. We will double our efforts in support of Mooseheart and
Moosehaven. We will work to gain more membership and make them feel
welcome by saying hello and teaching them what we are all about. We will
work harder than before to prove that we are the BEST fraternal organiza-
tion in the Seacoast. I would like to take this opportunity to both congratu-
late and thank every member of our Lodge for all the hard work and dedi-
cation that made this award possible. And I truly hope that you are as
proud of our Lodge as I am.
Fraternally Yours,
Dan Moynahan

Dover Women of the Moose
Dover Women of the Moose were recently honored as we were asked to be the hostess
chapter at the annual mid-year conference in Nashua, NH.
We have been lucky to work with two encouraging Deputy Grand Regents, Pat Linchey and
Lois Yeadon.
We would like to thank everyone who has helped us prepare for this and to all the co-
workers that help at the convention.
We would also like to send out congratulations to all the Women of Dover who will receive
their Academy of Friendship
Next Meeting
Please be aware that the 1st meeting of the month in March will
be held on Monday March 7th at 6:30 due to the Mid-Year Con-
vention.

VOLUME 1, ISSUE 1
So you want to get involved with the charitable work we do, but with the current economic
conditions, it just isn’t possible. Or is it?
There are dozens of ways you can make a huge difference in people’s lives with little or no
monetary contributions.
Here are just a few
The Penny Jar
Fill the jar with pennies. When full, we’ll match the amount and donate to the “Moose Gimme Five” fund in the name of a member that helped
fill it.
Aluminum Can Flip Tops
We donate these to the Kidney foundation. They don’t cost you a penny,
and they add up quickly if everyone participates.
There are many, many more ways to help out at no cost to you. Watch for our
soon to come donation station and do what you can. You’re gonna feel good
Help at bingo, breakfasts, or other Moose fund-raising events, even if it’s just
about yourself, I guarantee it.
helping to spread the word about what we’re doing
Your Time
Yard Sale Items
Donate to our annual Yard Sale—a great way to clean out your house and all
proceeds are donated to local charities.
Other Ways to Help are:
Plastic bottle topes from Coke
heart.
Used printer cartridges, cell phones, and video games—all help to raise money for Mooseheart
General Mills Boxtops for Education, Campbells soup Labels for Education, empty Frito Lay chip bags, Tyson Project A+ labels—all items
that you would normally throw away (costing you money) that we’ll use to earn points and donate to Mooseheart
Annual Chili / Chowder Cook-off
The annual Chili and Chowder cook-off was held on Feb. 19th. Everyone that attended were treat-
ed to some excellent food.
Congratulations to First Place winners:
Steven Moynahan for his Chili
Most Original went to:
Dolph Toigo’s Chili recipe
Thanks to all who participated and helped to make this another enjoyable and successful cook-off
event.
Bring them to the lodge and we’ll punch the code into the website and earn points (money) for Moose-
Paula King for her Chowder
Stephanie Gilpatrick’s Chowder
Claremont Trip
On January 15, eighteen members of our Lodge and Chapter boarded a bus bound for Claremont.
The Moose Lodge in Claremont was looking for ways to improve fund raising through member participation, and our Lodge
was ready to help.
Equipped with meat bingo cards, meat prizes, famed meat bingo caller, Dennis “The Entertainer” Greene and financial guru
Stephen “Price Waterhouse” Moynahan, we were able to help Claremont raise $700 in a little more than an hour’s worth of
fun.
More importantly, Claremont lodge members learned how to run Mear Bingo for themselves and were already eagerly
brainstorming ideas for their own events as we left.
After a compulsory stop at the Newport Moose Lodge, the happy group headed home.
More such field trips are planned, stay tuned
