Video instructions for fall auditions

Instructions for Producing and Submitting Video Assignments:

Below you will find the detailed instructions on how to produce a video and upload it to your Unified Classroom folder in Powerschool.

Producing your video recording

1) On school issued computer search for Camera App. You may wish to add this app to your taskbar.

2) In the app, change from camera mode to video recording mode.

3) Using the preview window, take a step back to make sure that you and your instrument are in full view.

4) Press record button to begin recording of your assignment and or audition. Please note...Your recording will automatically save to the pictures folder in “Your Files”.

5) After recording, rewatch/review what you just performed to make sure it is what you want to submit. You can record as many times as you feel is needed to get the recording you want.

Submitting your recording into Unified Classroom

1) Log into Unified Classroom in PowerSchool.

2) Find the assignment for which you wish to submit your recording.

3) Click the [+Hand In] button on the lower left side of the assignment window.

4) Select the attachment “choose files” and navigate to your recording (it should be in the pictures->camera roll).

5) Click on the video you wish to upload and select the open button. This should then start uploading the video to Unified Classroom.

6) Once the video is uploaded, select the red [Hand In] button on the lower left side of the assignment page.

A few tips for a successful video:)

-Pay attention to what is in the background of the video. If you have a lot of back-lighting, same color wall as your clothing, moving objects such as people, pets, etc, and or extra noise (ex fan, T.V., etc.) this could take away from the success of the video.

-Make use of camera preview.

-You can resubmit your video. If you do, please create a different title for that video.

-If you record at school, consider using a black music stand to put your computer on so that you can adjust the height so that you can get everything in view.

-(optional) You may consider filming at home and then bring your computer to school to upload the video at school using the school wifi. This could be helpful if you have limited upload speed or data at home.

-Violins / Violas Stand Sideways.

Make sure you are not facing directly at the camera. Be sure the bridge and fingerboard are facing camera. Just like you would stand for a solo performance. Be sure the camera is aimed high enough to capture entire instrument and person.

-Cellos / Basses Stand Back.

Make sure you are sitting/standing back far enough for the camera to record the entire instrument and person.
