Project Inception
The Dream of the Rood project is one of my final requirements for graduation. It is the 'integrating project' that combines elements of my work in linguistics through the English and Philosophy departments. It is part translation theory, translation practice, and an exploration into interpretation and understanding using verbal and visual means. Click here to read an essay about how this project was inspired.
About the Poem
The Dream of the Rood is a poem of Anglo-Saxon origin that dates back to the 7th or 8th century. It is the story of the Crucifixion of Christ, told with a uniquely Anglo-Saxon spin: it is told from the point of view of the cross.
