In a reduction linocut, a series of colors are printed from lightest to darkest as areas of the linoleum are cut away. In this column, I will show the progression of these colors...
...in this column, I will show some prints that I pulled out of series at various stages of the process.
This is the print at stage 3 – 3 colors printed. The first color was the complete linoleum block printed in a slightly warm white. The second was a light grey. The third was a light orange, which comes out tan/green over the grey beneath it.
The image above was printed at stage 2 in milori blue ink on white paper.
The image here above was printed in a red-yellow-orange color blend at stage 3 of the process. I decided to run a full series of these; nine were printed on cream paper, and one on white.
