Counselor Registration is OPEN January 18 until February 15, 2025.
Notifications about Counselor Selections are estimated to be communicated to our applicants sometime in March, 2025.
If you:
will be entering 9th through 12th grade in the Fall of 2025 or are a high school graduate
AND you have completed CHIC II Training or the Program Aide program through GSGLA (see # 10 below)
AND you are a Registered Girl Scout with GSGLA for 2024-2025 within the La Canada Service Unit
Complete the Counselor application below. You will need to get some information from your parents, such as Insurance policy information and Emergency Contacts.
You must include the email address and phone numbers for your parent/guardian on the Counselor application.
You must check and read your email frequently for important camp information.
Print the Permission Slip/Emergency Form. It will be sent to your email about 72 hours after you submit the application. Confirm that all information is correct.
Counselor and parent need to sign the middle of the form and both parents/guardians (if applicable) need to sign the bottom of the form. Mail or deliver the signed Form within 5 days following the directions on the email.
You will be notified if you are selected to be a Counselor sometime in March by email. We will also notify those not selected by email and we will shred your Permission/Emergency Form.
MANDATORY Training will be held on Saturday, April 26th at Montrose Program House. The time will be 9:00 am to 4:30 pm with lunch provided. New Counselors report at 9:00am. Returning Counselors report at 1:00pm. Training is MANDATORY. New applicants who cannot attend Training Day will not be offered spots as Counselors. Returning Counselors may be eligible for a waiver at the sole discretion of the Camp Director. It is important that you explain conflicts on your application.
Attend MANDATORY Unit Location Assignment and Site Preparation on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at Hahamongna Park, at 9:00am. If you cannot attend site preparation ("camp clean up day") you must apply for a waiver from the director.
Inform Camp of ANY possible conflicts when you submit your applications (e.g. Summer School, sports) for both the Mandatory Training and Camp. Please consider if your schedule will allow you to commit to camp prior to applying and please notify us immediately if an unexpected conflict arises. There will be less tolerance for late arrivals, early departures or missed days than in past, so please be sure you are able to make the full commitment required to camp.
Please ensure that any friends you list are planning to apply. Please note that we cannot guarantee you will be placed with everyone on your friend list.
Prospective Counselors who have not completed CHIC II at our camp must have completed Program Aide certification through GSGLA by January 15, 2025 to be considered and will be required to show proof of completion (both the class AND the required activities). Director approval is required before alternative training begins.
Not all applicants will be offered positions as Counselors.
In 2017, graduating seniors were not offered spots as counselors of camper units. Instead, the graduates were "Camp Mentors", offering their experience and expertise to other counselors throughout camp, and working alongside the adult volunteers. The Camp Mentor program may be offered again this year to current 12th grade girls, depending upon the pool of counselor applicants.
