Summary

The 2017 LCE Overnight was held on the LCE playground area. Our theme was “Surf’s Up” and a troop leader purchased Lifeguard shirts for them to wear which was super cute.

We were fortunate enough to not have rain the day of the event, but it did rain early in the morning.

We were also fortunate to have a district employee stay overnight to help offset the janitor fees which are typically about $400 and another $50-$75 for their tip. We paid $152 and $60 towards tip. There needs to be coordination with Patty Castreje at the district, a permit from the City and an application completed to request the use of the playground overnight. Make sure to find out if there is a baseball practice scheduled. Keep in mind the cost of the janitor before you set the price per girl.

We had a low turnout this year for some reason, especially from Juniors possibly due to timing. We had only one troop sign up to overnight although we ended up with one more.

The stations were hula/limbo, hair/nails (popular), ocean in a bottle craft, and relay races. We had 2-3 girls per station with one troop parent supervising. We were also able to borrow props to make a photo booth which the troops enjoyed. We did s’mores and skits.

We had a very tight budget due to the turnout, so many items were donated by troop parents including dinner and snacks for the host troops. Our costs mainly went to patches, janitor fees, and food. Fire pits and decorations were also loaned from troop parents.

Our girls had fun working together cross-troops and those who attended had a great time. We had 14 girls and many parents helping to make this event work.
