Wizard's Chess
Objective: To practice prepositions and irregular verbs.
Please watch this video to familiarize/remind yourself of the concept.
As in Harry Potter, the chess pieces will be played with live board pieces (students) being directed by the player wizard (another student). Also, as in HP, the chess pieces can give suggestions to the player. However, if either side is heard speaking English, they lose a turn. Once pieces are captured they can go and help advise the player. We will use a mini chess set up:
If you are unfamiliar with the rules of chess just listen to the player or refer to your HW sheet if learning the rules was HW.
The Latin:
Players will use commands and prepositions to direct their game pieces.
Game Pieces can offer suggestions or refuse to move by using the following phrases. You cannot refuse without a reason. The referee (me) may make you move anyway.
Minime! Volo ire ad/pro/in/ab.....
Minime! Volo necare istum/istam!
Nolo! Quod....
iste/ista me necabit! - That one will kill me!
timeo!
