Welcome to the new William Lashly website!
We have been asked for more information about the cigarette cards which we used to illustrate the inside covers of our book The Life and Adventures of William Lashly. The cards were issued by John Player and Sons, a branch of the Imperial Tobacco Company, in two series of twenty-five cards, given away in packets of cigarettes between 1915 and 1916. Both series were called Polar Exploration and were illustrated with examples taken from Antarctic and Arctic history. Below we show some examples of Antarctic subjects and events. If you would like to know more, or obtain high resolution copies of any of the cards, please contact us.
