The Laketown Neighborhood Association has decided to hold a Curb Appeal Contest as a way to promote property upkeep and to publicize positive efforts

that build the neighborhood.

Curb appeal is the attractiveness of the exterior of a property as viewed from the street. A neighborhood with many properties that have high curb appeal will usually be desirable to live in. Negative curb appeal detracts from the quality of life of residents, reduces property values and may lead to more crime. A way to accentuate the positive, and provide good examples, is to hold a contest that highlights attractive looking

homes in our neighborhood.

Who qualifies? Laketown residential properties. Project pictures and address are required to be posted on Nextdoor.

What qualifies? Any improvements visible from the curb: front porch, landscaping, painting, etc.

Judging criteria:

• Design and landscaping (Appealing design elements, use of plants, pleasing appearance)

• Maintenance and neatness (No obvious clutter, weeds, visible damage or need for repair. No debris or unsightly elements.)

• Curb Appeal (Initial visual appearance - the WOW of the property. This should be sustained over time, so when the home is viewed at different times, the effect is the same.)

Duration of contest:

Contest nominations will be accepted on Nextdoor June 1st through June 30th. A panel of judges from the Association Board will determine the winners.
