Syllabus
[Theory] vector spaces and linear transforms, inner product and normed spaces, diagonalization and triangularization, eigenvalue decomposition, singular value decomposition, positive matrices.
[Applications] linear regression, linearly constrained optimization, low-rank approximation, dynamical systems, Markov chain, closest orthogonal transform, graph Laplacian.
