Their past: The Camonna Tong has had such success in Morrowind all of these years because of family. It's a bit of a rough family, but it protects and takes care of its own. So when Mr. Ienith ends up in some Imperial prison for violating some outlander law, and when Mrs. Ienith goes running off to Almsivi knows where to join some cult, the Camonna Tong can protect the little girl they left behind.
Dari only barely remembers her parents. Her father went to prison before she was born and her mother left her without a second thought, leaving her older half-brothers to take care of her. The two brothers had been making good in the Tong, were some of Dren's most loyal boys. When the boss needed someone dead and wanted it done quickly, quietly and completely, he went to the Ienith brothers. They had experience with half-siblings, given their father's proclivity towards sleeping with women, declaring them his one true wife forever and then ditching her after she gets pregnant, usually to go on some mad scheme that landed him in jail. The brothers asked if their sister, Dari could stay at Dren's plantation, and Dren agreed to let her stay. After all, the Camonna Tong takes care of its family. He's not so heartless to abandon a true daughter of Morrowind.
For a childhood spent being raised into one of the most brutal criminal organizations in Tamriel, Dari grew up a happy child. She loved and admired her brothers, and they in turn raised her to learn everything she would need to know in life, based on everything they needed to know in their lives. This included poisoning, stealth, illusions, killing with both bow and arrow from a distance as well as with dagger up close. In short, they taught her every trick they knew in the assassin and criminal enforcer trade, and she took to it like a flock of cliff racers to just about every living thing. She quickly began to pull her own weight in the Tong, as her blue eyed act of childhood innocence could get her into all sorts of places where less adorable agents would be kicked out. She was damn cute and she knew how to use it.
Life went on, even as the Empire and its "Thieves Guild" encroached where it was unwanted. Dren started to talk about a new and powerful patron who shared their views on outlanders, and who had a plan to send them packing. Those who did the "special jobs" for this "like minded patron" got real quiet real fast, but the money came in and the Empire was losing ground. House Hlaalu openly supported the Imperial invaders, but the Camonna Tong knew that all of the important people answered to Orvas, rather than his turncoat brother who abandoned his people for a shiny, meaningless Imperial title.
That was until House Hlaalu started changing sides. That was when that damn lizard showed up and ruined everything.
Thistle Flower had already been a problem before she started claiming to be some thrice damned fulfillment of some ancient Ashlander prophecy. She was a member of the Twin Lamps and thus, a constant thorn in the side of the Camonna Tong's slave trading operations.
