Their past: The Warrior Guard of the Mane are famous throughout Tamriel for their skill in martial arts and their absolute loyalty to their charge, whom they regard as the living embodiment of the Riddle-Thar, whose every word is moonlit truth. While some Khajiiti warriors earn the honor of standing by the Mane’s side through exceptional courage and skill at arms, others train from youth to serve the Mane, knowing no other life, hoping for the chance to be deemed worthy to take the Shaven Oath.
Samhi-do was one of those who never planned to have any other life and thought he never wanted anything else. His parents were in the Warrior Guard, as were their parents, as were his sisters. In the course of their time in the Guard, Samhi-do and his sisters even married fellow members of the Guard.
Samhi-do met his husband while they were tasked together to stop Bosmeri incursions past Pellitine borders. The two of them bonded over their love of the forests and of fishing, their tendency to be sort of snobbish about food and their dream to someday, when they were older and retired, buy a little land near the ocean to farm and fish. Their wedding was a joyous occasion, and the husband-husband team were the first ones that the Mane or the Khajiiti military would go to to discuss jungle-based warfare.
These happy times came to an end with the Knahaten Flu. While neither of them caught the illness, the nearby Bosmer blamed Khajiiti traders for spreading it to a local settlement and retaliated by attacking the Mane’s retinue when he was making a pilgrimage to give aid and guidance to the affected areas. His husband, scouting ahead up in the trees was killed trying to warn the Mane.
With his husband dead, Samhi-do’s heart was no longer in the Guard. He asked the Mane for his permission to retire and he granted it.
