I was born in Toronto, Canada, but now live in Norman, Oklahoma, USA, with my wife Vickie and 2 children. Phil lives in Berkshire with his wife Jane.
I finally made it to Oxfordshire in June of 2009, having begun my research about 2 years earlier. There I met fellow researcher and fellow descendant of the Traffords of Kirtlington, Phil Wood. Together with our wives, we visited Kirtlington and a few other nearby sites. We met firstly at the Jersey Arms in Middleton Stoney - this inn was originally the Eagle and Child, and had come into the possession of John Trafford (1706-1768) through his second marriage, in 1757. In Kirtlington, we visited the local church (St. Mary the Virgin), a portion of the boundary of Thomas Symons' original property, and of course the bakehouse.
I descended from Thomas Trafford (1767-1843) the baker. Phil descended from Thomas' sister Ann (born 1784). Our common ancestor was John Trafford (1741-1819) and his wife Mary (nee Curtis).
