Foil
Foil is traditionally considered the starting place in fencing. It is exacting and requires all the basic abilities needed of a good fencer. Some consider it a "practice" weapon," while others know it to be The King of Weapons due to the complex simplicity that is it's paradox: light, fast, and precise with the most limited of the weapons' target area. There is a natural rivalry between the aficionados of particular weapons, but one can consistently observe that the accomplished foilist will adapt most readily to the other two weapons, whereas the reverse is not so easily done. Below is the first time electric foils were used in the Olympics along with explanations of all three weapons. This was before the saber became electric, so you will notice the "jury" of judges that the electric scoring apparatuses replaced.
