This page provides generalized help for using Keep Ya Beat, for more specific help on the main parts of the application see the individual help pages (Player Help, Rhythm Editor Help, Beats & Sounds Help, Exporting & Importing Help, Report A Bug Help).
Undoing Changes
Any change you make can easily be undone until you quit the application. The undo button is at the top of the screen (a in the following example). Here it is greyed out because there have been no changes. As soon as a change is made it activates, and hovering over it reveals what will be undone if you click it.
Backing Up Your Rhythms
The easiest way to backup your own rhythms is to export them to file and save that file. If you make a lot of changes, taking regular backups will safeguard against losing your work. See Exporting & Importing Help for instructions on exporting rhythms.
The More... Menu (b)
Tags, Import Rhythms and Bug A Report are covered in there own sections (Tags Help, Exporting & Importing Help, Report A Bug Help). The others are covered below.
The Preferences Window
This is the place to make global adjustments to the settings. They are mostly self-explanatory, but a couple of points to mention:
1) This is where you can choose to use the Open Dyslexic font which is a scientifically researched font that makes it easier for people with dyslexia to read. It's a much wider font than the normal one, so if you choose it, you'll probably need to make the window a bit larger.
2) If you use Keep Ya Beat to assist you when playing an instrument, it's possible that you'll rely more on the visual progress of the beats than the listening. For that reason, we've made a lot of the settings adjustable (under Animations and Effects). You can easily make a beat flash or jump or show a specific colour when it plays. You can turn off the movements altogether and just go by colour changes. Play around and use it whichever way helps you to get the most out of it.
*Tip: make the window really big, so you can play a rhythm and see the effects of the changes as you adjust them
