Keep Ya Beat comes with several default sounds and beat types. A beat type is simply a way of grouping beats that have the same sound and properties (like volume or colour), so that they can be easily changed for a rhythm without changing individual beats.
You can also add your own sounds and beat types. This example shows a sound being added. At the moment only wave and aiff audio files are supported. And bear in mind, sounds must be very short to be used in a metronome type application.
The new sound can be used in existing beat types, and you can also create your own. Note that when you use a non-default sound in a beat type a fallback sound is also automatically included. This will be used if your own sound cannot be loaded at any time. Or perhaps if you share your rhythms with a friend, and you forget to also give them the sound file. This way the rhythm can always play, even if not quite the way you created it. The following example shows a new beat type being added to use the sound.
Now the new sound and beat type are part of the library, they can be used in rhythms. Right-click on them to edit, duplicate or remove them. You can also change the colour or sounds used by a beat type directly in the list.
