So, How Do Leaders Lead Anyway?
It's a tough question because there are many flavors of leadership. Yet one thing is clear: they don't do it alone. Leadership skills and communications capabilities go hand in hand.
That's why ECC is piloting a dynamic new learning experience called Leadership & Communications. This academic credit course is specifically designed for learners in active leadership positions in the workplace, the community or the college.
When students are accepted for a Leadership & Communications Independent Study experience, they blend their own unique leadership efforts with practical, purposeful learning about different facets and levels of communications - all with plenty of interaction and collaboration.
The Leadership & Communications Experience
Leadership & Communications Independent Study began in February, 2012 and are available in Fall and Spring Semesters as well as Summer Session.
Students are considered for admission who have - or are exploring - a hands on leadership experience at work, at school or an approved public sector or nonprofit organization. The process includes learning about Communications Studies in the context of a live field project. The result? Plenty of new perspectives about the study of Communications, a fully developed real life learning experience, input from colleagues and mentors and a portfolio of new experiences. In some cases, students may also qualify for additional tuition free credit from ECC for their service and contributions.
How Organizations Working with ECC Leaders Benefit
The companies, organizations and clubs working with Leadership & Communications students also gain because students have:
