Welcome to the world of motorcycling. As a new rider participating in education and training activities, you're about to embark on an adventure that only motorcyclists can know. If you're an experienced rider who has taken some time off from the thrill only two-wheel exploits can bring, welcome back! You are certain to renew the habits and skills necessary for motorcycling enjoyment.
Motorcycling can be quite a challenge, not just in learning the controls and acquiring maneuvering skills, but also in finding a safe way through real-world traffic. If you're willing to embark on a journey that develops the special skills and strategies of a good motorcyclist, this course is for you. Your experience and participation will lead to a better understanding of the riding maneuvers and the mental skills necessary to enjoy motorcycling to the fullest. Through this process, you might even decide that motorcycling is not right for you.
This course covers the basic fundamentals for you to develop you capabilities to become a safe and responsible motorcyclist. It provides the opportunity for you to learn the physical and mental skills important for operating a motorcycle. In the classroom, you will learn ways to minimize risk and handle special riding situations. During the riding portion of the this course, you will be coached to develop the physical skills of basic control that include: clutch/throttle control, straight line riding, stopping, turning, and shifting, and then move on to more advanced skills in stopping quickly, cornering, and swerving.

Please understand that Active Duty members have priority and all others will be placed on a standby list and notified approximately 1 week prior to the start of the course. You must have access to Kirtland AFB to attend.
This is a 3 day course (approx. 16 hrs)- 6 hrs in Classroom, 2 Days on Range. You must complete all curriculum to receive a completion card.
All Students will be required to complete the MSF Basic E-Course prior to the start of the class. Completed certificates will be collected prior to the start of the classroom portion. Those without their MSF E-Course certificate will be dismissed.
Approximately 2 weeks before the course a weblink to take the Ecourse will be emailed to everyone. Current cost for the Ecourse is $19.99. The Ecourse is only good for 30 days, DO NOT take the Ecourse until you are confirmed in a class.
A few things that will be needed:
Motorcycle - must pass the T-CLOCS inspection prior to range use
- full tank of gas
Helmet - DOT approved minimum
- There are loaner helmets available, but it is recommend you bring your own
Eye Protection (even if your motorcycle has a windshield)
Full Finger Gloves
Long Sleeves
Long Pants
Over-the-Ankle Sturdy Footwear
Sunscreen / Weather Appropriate Gear
Willingness to Learn and have Fun

4.4. Motorcycle, UTV, and ATV Operator Training.
4.4.1. Military personnel, who operate or intend to operate a motorcycle on a roadway, operators of government-owned motorcycles and AF civilian personnel whose position description requires operating a motorcycle, will comply with all motorcycle safety training requirements IAW DoDI 6055.04 and Table 4.1.
4.4.1.1. Military members intending to operate motorcycles on a roadway must possess a valid motorcycle license, endorsement or learners permit.
4.4.1.3. The operator must possess a valid motorcycle license, endorsement or learners permit to attend AF sponsored motorcycle training, to include travel to and from training location(s).
4.4.1.5. Motorcycle operator will be enrolled in MUSTT prior to attending training.
As each states requirements are different it is up to you the rider student, to find the process for your state.
Members using their own motorcycles; Your motorcycle or the motorcycle you are using must pass a T-Clocs inspection. The motorcycle will be inspected by your instructors. Motorcycles that are questionable or do not pass inspection will be dismissed from the course. You must show up with enough gas in your fuel tank to complete the course. Individuals that run out of gas or need to go for fuel will be dismissed. Individuals who ride to the course must have a learners permit, or commanders written approval or trailer your bike to the course. Motorcycles that you ride to the course must have current registration and insurance unless you are trailering/transporting to the course. A licensed & trained friend can drop it off also.
