Welcome to Kirtland Air Force Base, Albuquerque, New Mexico; Heartland for riding the Great Southwest.

The Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Certified instructors at Kirtland have made it our priority to ensure all of our riders have access to all required and recommended tools and training necessary for a safe and fun ride.

Kirtland offers several Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) certified courses to include the Basic Rider Course (BRC), Basic Rider Course 2 U (BRC2U) formerly known as Experienced Rider Course, and the Advanced Rider Course (ARC); each proudly instructed multiple times throughout the year by our MSF Certified RiderCoaches.

Many times during the riding season, Squadrons put together small mentorship rides designed for small groups to build skills, techniques, as well as have fun. The 377th Wing also puts together larger Base Mentorship Rides to bring all of the riders together as a team building experience as well as an opportunity for our riders to enjoy the roads and the ride that New Mexico has to offer.

This site was designed to provide all riders a central point to access all the necessary information needed, from signing up for a Motorcycle Safety Course, to providing Unit Reps access to necessary safety tracking sites. Riders can plan for trips as well as check for any safety recalls that may have been reported for their motorcycle. Riders can sign up for courses by following the date link below.

Basic RiderCourse

(BRC)

READ BEFORE - ENROLLING IN A COURSE

Women's 2026

The best place to start once you've made the decision to ride or returning riders. Covers the basics of operating a motorcycle and safety-oriented mental strategies. Successful completion of this course consists of a three-hour eCourse, five hours of formal classroom activities, and ten hours of riding instruction conducted over two or three sessions, plus its knowledge and skill tests.

Class dates will be added on the first workday of each month for the following month, @1200.

Duration: 15 hours

Basic RiderCourse II U

(BRC2U) Skills Practice

2025

Meets requirements for Intermediate & Refresher training.

One day, on-motorcycle course for current riders or newly licensed riders looking to refine and build skills in a safe and controlled environment. Individuals utilize their own motorcycle.

Duration: 6 hours

Advanced RiderCourse U

(ARC)

2025

Meets requirements for Intermediate & Refresher training.

Although labeled as the "ARC", the class is open to all types of motorcycles. Discussion and riding drills designed to improve vital braking and cornering skills. Advanced motorcycle training can help you conquer a new challenge, refine current riding skills, and build new ones. All courses taken on your personal motorcycle. This course is open to all individuals able to access Kirtland AFB legally & under their own base credentials. (no sign-on allowed) 12 slots are available per class.
