POGIL is a student-centered instructional approach, in a typical POGIL classroom or laboratory, students work in small teams with the instructor acting as a facilitator. The POGIL approach has two broad aims: to develop content mastery through student construction of their own understanding and to develop and improve important learning skills such as information processing, communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, metacognition, and assessment. I have created the majority of my classroom worksheets. Some of the worksheets use parts of other published worksheets. I have also incorporated different styles to incorporate inquiry learning in my lessons in addition to guided lessons. I like to utilize simulations (i.e. PHET) to incorporate technology; visual comparison; and physical activity such as labs to enable inquiry learning. The student will explore patterns and get a better understanding of the concepts without direct/guided instruction.
