Thank you for visiting my Academic Webpage!

Here you will find the latest updates regarding my academic career.

While my dissertation focuses primarily on Protect and Survive and Cold War civil defence in Britain, my academic background and interests encompass a much larger field of late Cold War popular culture in Britain, the United States, and Canada as well the art of teaching.

I hope this website will serve as a useful chronicle for my professional development and rambling through life, teaching, and history as I continue my journey to become a professor and pass on my passion for history and teaching to new students (though some of my idiosyncrasies tend to sneak into this website as well from time to time as you'll soon see!).

It's finally done! As of July 2nd 2020, I am a doctor of history!! It has been an AMAZING journey to get here, I've learned so much, met so many wonderful people, and persevered through many obstacles, it really has been a dream come true. Not only that, I'm developing my own course for Fall at the University of Waterloo!

For more information, please check the DISSERTATION page and the TEACHING page.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you return soon,

- Joseph Andrew Buscemi

WARNING: I use the British spelling of "defence"... A lot.
