Three-Lesson Mini Unit

Three Lesson Mini-Unit

Overview:

I love project based learning. I would like to get my students around computers in groups to work on projects together. However, my classroom has only one computer attached to an overhead projector. It is good for whole-class work, but does not foster technology use by students. In most of my classes, I have the project groups doing a lot of work outside class using Web 2.0 tools. I do, however, have them come together as groups and present their final product using the classroom computer. This set of lessons will assume students have their laptops with wireless internet access in the classroom in addition to the smart technology currently in the classroom.

These three lessons will be based on project based learning. This is a set of lessons I previously taught on writing academic comparison/contrast essays using Writing Academic English, Fourth Edition by Oshima and Hogue. Each of the three lessons covers one two-hour class period.
