We first opened for business in the 1960s and have been providing legal services in Carmarthen, and for our Clients in the rest of the UK, ever since.
We are a small firm and pride ourselves on an efficient, yet personal, friendly and approachable service.
The practice is currently run by Alison John L.L.B. Solicitor, who has been with the firm since 1981. Alison is a sole practitioner, who does all the legal work in the firm and supervises the rest of our team.
Alison is assisted by her team, headed by our Office Manager, Mrs Helen Mitchell, our Accounts Manager, Mrs Natalie John, our Secretary, Mrs Christine McDermott and our Receptionist Ms Jodie Jones.
Alison K John
Alison is a solicitor, who has over 30 years experience in private client work, specialising in residential conveyancing, conveyancing for property investors, small commercial transactions, including agricultural conveyancing, wills and probate, advice to the elderly, powers of attorney, preparation of tenancy agreements and leases of residential and commercial property.
Alison has been working in these fields, since she qualified as a solicitor.
Alison has extensive experience in dealing with residential conveyancing, both registered and unregistered, freehold and leasehold properties, houses, flats, new builds, repossessions, auction property, buy to lets, houses in multiple occupation, commercial property, farms etc. all over England and Wales.
Alison deals with about 250 to 300 sales and purchases of residential property a year and spends about 70 per cent of her time on such work. The remaining percentage of her work, consists of wills and probate, forming about 20 per cent of her workload and the rest is given over to advice to the elderly, powers of attorney and landlord based landlord and tenant work, both commercial and residential.
Alison is from Killay, Swansea originally, but has been living and working in Carmarthen for over 30 years.
Alison was educated at Mynyddbach Comprehensive School in Swansea and was a member of its famous girls' choir, led by the conductor and music teacher Elwyn Rees and was an active member of the Urdd and Aelwyd Treforus, participating and competing in Urdd and National Eisteddfodau.
Alison obtained a 2.1 degree in law at Aberystwyth University and went on to do her training at TR Harris Arnold, Solicitors of Swansea. After qualifying as a solicitor, Alison worked as an assistant solicitor at the prominent firm of Hugh James, in its Cardiff, Llanishen and Talbot Green offices and still has connections with and friends in that firm to this day.
Alison then moved to Carmarthen, to take up a post as an assistant solicitor, with John Farr-Davies & Co and subsequenty became a partner in the firm, and a sole practitioner and head of the firm, 20 years or so ago.
Alison is a Welsh speaker, having learnt Welsh in school and becoming more fluent while in university in Aberystwyth, and can conduct your business in either English or Welsh.
Alison can also speak a certain amount of French, German and Italian and enough Spanish, Greek and Turkish, to hire a sunbed or get a cup of coffee!
Outside of the office Alison's interests include travelling, walking, archaeology, languages, reading, cookery, especially Italian cookery, computers and folk and light rock music (Bob Dylan, Mumford and Sons and Fleetwood Mac).
Helen is a Carmarthenshire lady born and bred, originally from Llanfynydd. Helen is Welsh speaking and has been with the firm for over 25 years, working her way up the heirarchy to Office Manager and keeps us all in order. Helen is the go to lady for a quote and an update on your matter.
Natalie is a native of Laugharne, now living with her young family in Pembrokeshire. Natalie has been with the firm over 15 years, working her way up from typist to the firm's Accounts Manager.
Christien is also a native of Laugharne, but has lived in Pendine for many years. Christine has been with the firm for over 20 years. Christine is the backbone of the office and always brightens up our days with her stories.
Jodie is the newest member of our staff and is the receptionist. Jodie is a native of Carmarthen. Jodie is always eager to help you in any way she can, taking messages etc.
