The Madrigal Dinner &

A Natural State of Christmas-Holiday Cabaret 2019

Tis' the Season Laugh, Feast, and be Jolly!!!

With some of the same great features of the Madrigal Dinner feast, along with some added holiday fun!

What is Hope For The Holidays?

The show is a musical production put on by JHS Vocal Music Department’s Chamber Singers & Natural State of Mind. For years our program has put on the annual “Madrigal Dinner Feast,” where the students dressed in medieval costuming and the venue transformed into a castle hall. Now, we have decided to expand the format into a more informal setting while adding some modern traditional & jazz holiday tunes, comedy, stage play and dinner theater style fun for the entire family.

The Menu

4 Course Dinner:

Featuring the same great chefs (Mike) whom have provided our most fantastic and flavorful meals for the past five years.

*Appetizer- Crisp & fresh garden salad served with your choice of ranch and/or Italian dressing

* Wassail Bowl- The traditional classic Madrigal Dinner “Wassail.” A wonderful hot spiced cider punch mixed with cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, and a mixture of fruits. For years, this drink has been star of the night to warm the bellies of guests and tickle their taste buds.

*Main Entree- Grilled chicken breast, garlic mashed potatoes, green beans, and a roll

*Dessert- A warm serving of homemade bread pudding, drizzled with Chef Mike’s famous caramel sauce.

The Story

The story of the night will portray a tale of two Christmases with each depicting the hope and joys of the holiday season. The first is a tale of Yuletide from long long ago. A Time of kings, queens, princes, princesses, knights, and jesters. The Chamber Singers will take us back to the Isle of England over two-thousand years and thus will begin the festive show. With pageantry & costuming befitting of a royal occasion, lords and ladies will assemble to tell the stories of holiday hope through carols, feasting, and Jesters comedic presentation. After the feast, dessert will be served with a slate of traditional pop and jazz holiday carols reminiscent of good old holiday memories. The comedy, soulful singing, and holiday hope will be amped up as you polish off your meal to ensure every participant leaves with hop for the holidays. This is a time for the entire family as your children will get to take pictures and dance with the King, Queen, Prince, Princess, or a noble lord/lady of your choice.

Our program ensures scholars get to compete in all-region, all-state, invitational festivals, performance assessments, and state-wide (and some national) travel experience at no cost to them or their families. This includes covering after school meals for scholars before trips, incentive gifts to scholars, and paying to have experts in the field come work with our vocal scholars.
  • We would also like to begin sending our scholars to elite vocal music camps where they get to work with the best in the state and nations. Students that attend these camps come back and make significant gains in All-Region & All-State rankings. Schools of all sizes that send their students to these camps place 30+ kids in all-region and all-state choirs.
