Hello, my name is Anthony Harbo Torres. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, I completed my first B.S. degree in 2013 in Space Studies from the American Military University in Charles Town, West Virginia while serving in the Air Force as a space operator. After leaving the service in 2014, I began a second B.S. degree in physics and finally completed it in 2021 from California State University Long Beach, California with a concentration in materials science. While at Long Beach I performed undergraduate research in Dr. Thomas Gredig's group into the non-linear optical properties of thin films of phthalocyanine, specifically the 2nd order modification to the film's absorption and transmission of light due to the electric field component of the incoming continuous wave laser. I began graduate studies in the Fall of 2021 at the Ohio State University where I joined the Johnston-Halperin group to work on molecular qubits produced from 2D heterostructures. I also enjoy tabletop world-building, salsa dancing, and attempting to make electronic music when I'm not working on physics.
