Enrollment is now available 24/7 over the phone by simply dialing 2-1-1.
For years, 211 staff have been giving CalFresh information and referrals to tens of thousands of callers. 211, with other members of the CalFresh Improvement Consortium made outstanding strides in enrollment over a 3 year period, bringing San Bernadino County from 8th to 3rd in the state for enrollment, only behind Calaveras and Tulare Counties. Yet there’s more work to be done. California Food Policy Advocates estimate that there are more than 34,000 Income-Eligible Non-Participants in our county. The USDA says that every dollar in food assistance generates $1.79 in economic activity. That translates to more than a billion dollars in missed economic activity.
