DESCRIPTION
This hilt was remodeled from my second LED hilt. It is powered with a 3-watt white LED. Using the white LED, I am able to use coloured discs to get 12 different coloured blades, just by quickly swapping out the disc, which simple sits between the LED lens and the blade, inside the emitter.
When I was scrounging for parts and ideas for this hilt, I already had in mind that I wanted to build a separated-emitter type design. Designing it was one thing, building it was something else. Among my searches, I found a polished brass plumbing part, that I though would look sweet as an emitter ring. I got it home, and just happened to test fit the threading on a stock MHS part. And to my extreme surprise - it fit perfectly! After that, I began building another order from TCSS. I asked Tim (the owner/operator) if he could bore out one of the plain emitters (#1 style) so a 1" blade could pass completely through. That was no problem. I then had to cut and installed the solid brass bars I bought online from..............onlinemetals.com. I undertook all this drilling with my brand new drill press.
