I created these boot extensions/uppers/gaitors (whatever you want to call them) as the boots I have bought are not tall enough for my preferences, and they are sized to fit scrawny legs. Anyway, this was my first foray into some serious leather-working, and I ended up spending alot of money for the leather, tools, and other hardware. I think they turned out pretty good. When I wear them over these boots, they come up to the bottom of my kneecaps.
I had originally planned to use mirror-polished nickle-plated side-release buckles, but they were delayed in shipping out, and at the same time, I found some mirror-polished brass-plated side-release buckles elsewhere. I ended up getting the gold buckles first (and in time for the Comic Expo), so I used them. I think the combination of the polished gold metal and the black leather looks awesome!
