This discourse analysis represents both a snapshot of my own teaching practice at one moment in my career in December of 2016 as well as a reflection on how that practice aligned, or didn't, with both state educational standards as well as well as current research-supported best practices. This also marks a point in time that was still relatively early in my progress through the MA program and thus many practices that I have since researched and begun incorporating into my repertoire are not yet represented.
In essence, this wasn't the worst day I've ever had as a teacher, but it certainly wasn't the most innovative or effective, either.
