TJ at LAUREL HIGHLANDS 7:30 p.m. Friday
Thomas Jefferson crushed Laurel Highlands by a 45-6 score last season.
Expect a similar score Friday as the Mustangs (0-5, 0-4) are on an eight-game losing streak and have dropped 15 of their past 16 games.
Thomas Jefferson blanked Albert Gallatin last week, 49-0, to improve to 4-0 in the Big Nine Conference and 5-0 overall.
The Jaguars, ranked No. 2 in Class AAA, have won 14 consecutive regular-season games and 16 of their past 17 overall.
Thomas Jefferson was sparked offensively against the Colonials by Chase Winovich, a senior quarterback/linebacker and Michigan recruit, and Austin Kemp, a junior running back/linebacker.
Kemp rushed for 137 yards and one touchdown, while Winovich ran for 130 yards on just two carries — touchdown jaunts of 55 and 75 yards.
Christian Breisinger, a senior quarterback/linebacker, accounted for two scores for TJ — a 1-yard plunge and an 8-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver/defensive back Dalton Dietrich.
Sophomore RB Ricky Daley, on a 1-yard run, and senior lineman Anthony Sestito, on a 29-yard interception return, rounded out the TJ scoring.
The Jaguars' defense was led by Winovich, with five tackles, one sack, and one caused fumble; senior linebacker Eric Fairman, five tackles and one blocked pass; senior linebacker Luke Deanovich, four tackles; along with Breisinger, Kemp, senior linebacker Austin Boyd, senior linemen Mat Nagy and Anthony Rash, and sophomore lineman Jackson Bucy.
Sestito and Breisinger had interceptions; Winovich and sophomore linebacker Braden Pahanish caused fumbles. Charles Warfield, a junior lineman, had a fumble recovery.
Laurel Highlands has mustered only 29 points (5.8 ppg) all season. The Mustangs, who have been shut out twice, are allowing 42 ppg defensively.
