10th GRADE LESSONS
10th Grade Xello Assignments (Due by March 1, 2024):
LESSON 1: Program Prospects.
Prerequisite: Save 3 Majors. In the Explore Options section, check out a variety of majors (subject of focus in college), and save a least three majors of interest to your Xello profile.
Core Lesson: Program Prospects. This exercise will help students understand different types of post-high school programs (like apprenticeships and college degrees), explore career options related to these programs, and consider which program options best match their strengths, academic interests, and career goals.
LESSON 2: Build Your Resume. For this exercise, students will upload an updated resume to Xello.
Prerequisite: Explore Resume Builder. On the About Me page, click on Resume to explore the Resume Builder tool in Xello. Add details about strengths, interests, skills, and experiences. Before completing LESSON 1, you may need to complete additional exercises to unlock the lesson if you have not saved 3 majors.
Core Lesson: Build Your Resume. For this exercise, students will upload an updated resume to Xello.
Additional HSBP Assignments:
In the spring, during the Course Request Process, you will also update your High School and Beyond Plan by selecting courses that relate to both your high school graduation and your plans for life after high school.
Throughout high school, you can return to your Xello account at any time to explore more schools, learn more about College Planning, or complete any other activities throughout the site. This is a great opportunity to learn more about yourself and to explore ideas for your plans for High School and Beyond.

Log in to Xello
ClassLink
Website: You can log in to Xello from your ClassLink account: https://launchpad.classlink.com/issaquah
Username: ISD Computer username (first 4 of last name, first 3 of first name, grade year e.g. LastFir25)
Password: The password you currently use to log on to school computers or Office 365. (Note: Your password for Class Link resets to your Student ID# each year and you are prompted to change it the first time you log in each year.)

LESSON 1: Program Prospects
Save 3 Majors (Prerequisite)
STEP 1: Saved Majors
Check you account to see if you have Saved Majors. Click the Heart icon in the upper right corner. If you saved Majors, you will see the count below My Saved Options. Click the Majors button on the right to see only Saved Majors.
STEP 2: 3 Majors Already Saved?
If you have 3 majors saved, skip ahead to Program Prospects. If not you will need to add a few to your account now. Click on Explore Options at the top of the page, then on Majors
STEP 3: Explore Majors
On this page, when you click in the search box, you'll see career areas appear below. You can click on an area (Business, for example) to see all school majors related to that career area. Click on a major to learn more, and then click the heart icon to save it to your Xello account.
STEP 4: Explore Majors from Saved Careers
You can also return to you saved careers to find majors related to that career. Click on the heart icon at the top fo the page to see saved careers.
STEP 5: Explore Majors from Saved Careers
Once you open a career & scroll to the bottom of the page, you'll see school Majors related to that career. Click on a major to learn more, and then click the heart icon to save it to your Xello account.
You can repeat the steps above until you have three Saved Majors. You can return to save more majors. anytime.
Program Prospects (Core Lesson)
In this lesson, you will explore education options beginning with getting to know your interests, strengths, and favorite subjects.
STEP 1: Get Started
Click on Xello in the upper left corner to return to the main page. On the left under Core Lessons, click on the blue Get Started button under Program Prospects.
STEP 2: Follow the Prompts
Follow the directions on each page, as they will lead you through the exercise.
STEP 3: Done
When you have fully completed the task, the progress bar at the top of the page will show 100%. Then click on the Done button to return to the main page. On this page, you’ll now see a green checkmark next to the Program Prospects core lesson.
LESSON 2: Build Your Resume
Explore Resume Builder (Prerequisite)
A resume is a short, one-page document that summarizes and highlights your background, qualifications, and skills. It is a way to introduce yourself, and create a positive, professional impression on paper. A resume is helpful in applying for jobs, interviews, internships, colleges, scholarships, or volunteer opportunities, or when seeking a letter of recommendation or a reference for an application.
Directions for Resume Building on Xello (optional)
STEP 1: Resume?
If you have already created a professional resume outside of Xello, skip ahead to Lesson: Build Your Resume directions below to upload the resume and complete the assignment.
STEP 2: About Me
To start creating a resume, click on About Me at the top of the site. Scroll down to find the Resume box, and click Update.
STEP 3: Follow the prompts
Follow the prompts on this page to learn about resumes, and to add any aspects of a resume you'd like to include. Xello will pull in options that you have saved in the Experiences sections of the About Me page.
STEP 4: Download Resume
After updating your resume, click on the Download Resume button at the bottom of the page.
Note: you can opt to download the document as text-only, which will allow you more options to further edit and format your resume and keep it to one-page.
STEP 5: Saving Your Resume
Open the document you’ve created, save it to your computer using your last name and first name (e.g., SmithJohnResume).

Build Your Resume (Core Lesson)
For this exercise, students will upload an updated resume to Xello.
STEP 1: Get Started
Click on Xello in the upper left corner to return to the main page. On the left under Core Lessons, click on the blue Get Started button under Build Your Resume.
STEP 2: Attach File
Click on the Attach Files and upload your saved resume, then click the blue Turn In button. Next, click the Done button in the upper right corner.
