2024 - 2025 Wellness Incentive Program

Complete one action to save $420 annually on your insurance premiums!

IMPORTANT: As a friendly reminder, please consider scheduling your annual physical or preventive exam early to avoid any availability issues. The District's health plans, administered through Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City, cover one annual physical per calendar year. To ensure full coverage, please take note of the date of your last annual physical and schedule your appointment, accordingly, avoiding any overlap with the same calendar year. Furthermore, it is recommended spacing out annual physicals by several months (unless otherwise advised by your medical provider). This approach allows your provider to better evaluate progress and monitor any general changes in your health.

 If you have questions or need assistance identifying when your last annual physical occurred, or for additional details on preventive care frequency allowed based on your plan, please go to the Blue KC member portal online at member.bluekc.com or through the MyBlueKC mobile app. 

Incentive

$420 annually ($35/month) for 2025-2026 insurance premiums

Employees on the District’s medical insurance plan who voluntarily complete their annual physical / preventive exam within the required timeframe are eligible for a $420 ($35/month) wellness incentive savings on their 2025- 2026 medical insurance premiums. [1],[2]

Note: Independence School District strives to provide a competitive plan of benefits to all our employees.  As in years past, if an employee completes all the wellness requirements set forth annually, they will receive a discount of $35 per month on every plan (this makes the District’s Base Plans cost “free” for a single employee). However, as in years past, if the employee chooses NOT to complete the wellness requirements, they will NOT receive the $35 monthly credit, thus increasing their monthly cost on any plan by this amount.  

Action

Completion of Annual Physical / Preventive Exam

To be completed at the ISD Employee Health Clinic, or with an outside primary care provider.  Please do not wait until the last minute to try to schedule an appointment. 


Timeframe: Between 6/1/24 - 5/31/25

[1] If you think you might be unable to meet the standard for the incentive in this program, you might qualify for an opportunity to earn the same incentive by different means, and/or qualify for an exemption. [2] If your medical insurance plan benefit effective date is after December 1, 2024, you will automatically earn the incentive for the 2025-2026 medical insurance premiums.
