4 Gardens will be on tour.
Schedule and directions to gardens:
1:00 PM Rachel Ballard Garden, 125 Ben Hogan Drive.
Directions: Travel on Southwest Higgins or 39 th Street to Pattee Canyon Road in the Farviews area. Go east on Pattee Canyon Road to Whitaker Drive. Turn right on Whitaker Drive. Proceed north on Whitaker to Ben Hogan Drive. It is just past The Keep Restaurant. Turn left on Ben Hogan Drive to 125 Ben Hogan Drive.
2:00 PM Missoula Iris Society Garden at Historical Fort Missoula behind the museum. Refreshments available.
3:00 PM Jim and Linda Sadler Garden, 1220 Clements Road
Directions: From the Missoula Iris Society Garden travel West on South Avenue to the Target Range School Area. Turn right onto Clements Road just past the school. Go past Dales Dairy and the Trough Restaurant, thru the 4 way stop where North Avenue crosses Clements Road, and proceed north on Clements Road to 1220 Clements Road.
4:00 PM Fred Frey Garden, 1760 Frey Lane
Directions: At Mullan Road and North Reserve Street, head west on Mullan Road away from Reserve Street. Now there are 2 choices: (1) After the Hellgate Trading Post Conoco Station but before starting up the hill to Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, turn left (south) on Homestead Drive. Drive straight back but rather than follow the street when it makes a hard right corner, keep coming straight between the 2 houses on a narrow, single paved road and follow that road to the house (a little over 1/10 miles). This is behind the subdivision. (2) Continue on Mullan Road a short distance past Homestead Drive to Frey Lane and take a left. Continue straight back past the intersection with Homestead Drive. Then, between the 2nd and 3rd house on the left, turn left on the paved drive shared with those houses and come back between their yards. Again, it is behind the subdivision.
Scavenger Hunt: As you tour the gardens, you can participate in a scavenger hunt. It will consist of finding iris cultivar types and varieties in the gardens.
Judges Garden Training: Judges garden training will begin at 2:00 PM at the garden of Jim and Linda Sadler, 1220 Clements Road.
Jim Sadler will conduct the judges garden training.
Current judges are in need of this training to keep their eligibility as a judge. Please be present.
At 4:00 PM at the garden of Fred Frey, there will be discussion and a fill in the blank test for judges credit.
All are welcome to participate in this training. There will not be a lecture, just knowledge to share. It could even entice you to become a judge with the American Iris Society.

JIM SADLER gave an excellent presentations on designs. Thank you, Jim, for your expertise!
Minutes: No formal meeting. Deb Belden took notes during the meeting. Below are a few points noted by Deb.
Jim Sadler's presentation on designs
An arrangement versus design. An arrangement is pretty and a design is a story.
A design is 2x the height of the vase.
He demonstrated a line design and a design showing motion.
You can use a drawer liner, a rubberized mat, as base for the design. Use wide width, black is best.
Jim passed out a brochure on designs.
Single iris blooms that will be placed in the pvc pipe vases at the show should be 2x the height x 22 inches.
Fred Frey will only have 112 iris to donate to the sale this year.
Volunteers needed for the iris show.
