The following are the excerpts about Irene Koc from this 1-hour broadcast:

For the first piece performed by Irene Koc: Jin Yang Zhao by Quan Jihao

In the two senior age divisions, the Chinese pieces were, as you can

imagine, longer and more complex.  Obviously that didn't faze

17-year-old Irene Koc from Bridgewater, New Jersey who actually was

the double winner, taking first prize overall in her age category, and

receiving a special citation as the best performer in the new Chinese

work.  The title of this one translates as music of "Long and Short" as

the composer Quan Jihao from Jilin Province alternates folk tunes and

dances with a tone cluster at the base.

For the second piece performed by Irene Koc: Petrarch Sonnet 104 by Franz Liszt:

Now earlier on today in the showcase, we heard 17-year-old Irene Koc

who was cited for the best performance of the required Chinese piece.

Well she returns as the first-prize winner overall in the upper teenage

category and she played the Petrarch Sonnet 104 by Franz Liszt.

The sensitive and thoughtfully shaped account of  Petrarch Sonnet 104

by 17-year-old Irene Koc.
