Irene Wins First Prize in 2015 Cecilian Young Artist Competition

Irene has won the First Prize in 2015 Cecilian Young Artist Competition.  She has won 13 times of the First Prize in the past 9 years.  She is going to be awarded with a special 9-year award and will perform at New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) on December 6, 2015. 

She has performed at the Cecilian Young Artist Competition winner recitals in many renowned performance centers including Alice Tully Hall of Lincoln Center, Zankel Hall in Carnegie Hall, and Grace Rainey Rodgers Auditorium in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, in addition to performances in other venues such as John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington, DC, Weill Halls of Carnegie Hall  in New York City, Merkin Concert Hall of Kaufman Music Center  in New York City,  New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in New Jersey, Ward Recital Hall of  Catholic University of America  in Washington, DC, Hubay Jeno Music School in Budapest, Hungary Rozsavolgyi Mark Arts School in Budapest, Hungary, etc.  (See the selected list: here). 

Last year in 2014, Irene also won the First Prize in both Piano Solo and Duet at Cecilian Young Artist Competition.  She has performed at the annual Cecilian Young Artist Competition Winners Recital at the Grace Rainey Roger Auditorium at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on December 6, 2014.   This news appears on Asbury Park Press on December 21, 2014 which can be found at this link:

Cecilian Music Club presents Young Artist recital

On Saturday, December 6, 2014, the Cecilian Music Club presented its annual Cecilian Young Artist Competition Winners Recital at the Grace Rainey Roger Auditorium at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Students of Cecilian Club members must receive high scores during a rigorous audition process in order to perform in this concert. The Cecilian Music Club would like to thank the chairwoman, Ms. Beth S. Chen, for all her hard work organizing both the auditions and the concert.

Piano solos were performed by: Matthew Chen, Amanda Cheng, Crystal Chiu, Heejin Choi, Natalie Chow, Melissa Cui, Melody Fu, Laura Futamura, Vincent Jiang, Violet Kasm, Irene Koc, Geoffrey Li, Christopher Liu, Sarah Liu, Alexander Luo, Yanjie Qiu, Mark Sabini, Alyssa Marie Soma, Allan Wang, Emily Wang, Max Wang, Cameron Woo, Evan Woo, Elena Wu, Rosemary Wu, Elizabeth Yang, James Yang, and Owen Zhang. Piano duets were performed by: Amanda Cheng/Irene Koc, Jake Cheng/Jeffrey Koc, Crystal Chiu/Iris Kwak, Albert Gu/Sarah **, Anna Hsu/Cindy Liu, Jessica Lew/Kaitlyn Lew, Emily Luo/Melinda Mao, Matthew Shen/Jonathan Shen, and Serena Tang/Seehanah Tang. Albert Leung, Daniel Qi, and Sarah Qi performed a piano trio.

Krystle DiCristofalo and Kristen Redding performed solo harp, and Jeremiah Hsu played a solo on the cello. Katie Hsu played piccolo with Gloria Wu on piano, David Lang played cello with Joyce Huang on piano, Mia Huang played violin with Kyle Huang on piano, Alyssia Liu played flute with Angela Murphy on piano, and Daniel Wang played flute with Emily Wang on piano. Kentaro Hansen, on piano, performed with cellists Christopher Yang and Kyle Ting. Lydia Chen, Samantha **, Sophie Huang, and Daniel Wang performed a flute quartet.

Yang of Princeton, Cathy Tao Yin of New York, and An-li Young of East Brunswick.
