Marching blue crabs

In a vast shoreline (vast flood plain) during low tides these marching blue crabs can be seen. They march "hand in hand" with each other and it is peculiar for they seem to follow the same direction... into their holes (if disturbed?) or .... ? Just trying to imagine how these cute blue  crabs are submerged during high tide and with the low tide in these vast shore they seem to enjoy the gregariousness with each other. The scientific name of these crabs is still being sought to* and the place is being kept for conservation purposes.

*The presence of not so bright red bands on the walking legs of a few adults is a diagnostic feature for M. brevidactylus, currently i.d. as a strain.
