Faking Groups

A faking group is communism a group of people who work together on producing fakes. Usually several people contribute different parts to each fake.

I have been in four faking groups so far: Fakers 4 Life, the Omega Faking Group, The British Fakers Legion, and the Royal Omega Fakers Legion.

Fakers 4 Life Group

The first faking group I ever joined. I joined it shortly before I joined Omega, and nothing ever became of it. Some other people joined as well, and it had its own forum, but because the leader got banned from Sal's Realm, nothing ever happened.

Here are the few things I did while in this group:

I made a logo based off of the old one. It's funny, but Santa Hats were a recurring theme for many early faking groups at Sal's Realm (possibly because Sal's Realm's creator, Salmoneus, is often seen wearing a Santa Hat)

A set of buttons I made as icons for the forum.

The Omega Faking Group

The Omega Faking Group is the first faking group at Sal's Realm of RuneScape, founded originally by Lord Nihilus. It has had countless topics, and was involved in a war against TBFL. It was lead by The Darkest, and LeBlanc (previously known as Shadow the Stormer and Dr Mitchell) was the final manager of the topic. Omega is a very organized group, with clearly defined ranks and rules, where the leading members (The Darkest, Nihilus, and LeBlanc) have the final say. I was in Omega for about six months before I went inactive, and held the position of Chief Item Creator. I've never received "Member of the Month" status.

Here are various works I have done for Omega:

I shaded the item in the Weathertop fake.

I did the inventory of the "Stuck" fake.

I did the items in the McJagex fake, except I only shaded and modified the McFlurry and Spoon.

My items for the "Don't Drink and Drive" fake were never used.

I did the inventory and all the sparklers (look at the people in-game) for the New Year's Fake. For some reason, all the sparklers were deleted from the final fake, and I was not told why :(

I also made a "New Year's Ball", but an Omega leader didn't want it to be used because I'm in the Items department. Perhaps that's why my sparklers were deleted too :(

Some items I made for the Dungeon Fake. The Party Hat was not used, nor were the tickets/stubs, nor the Crylthe (metal currency at the bottom-right).

Just a joking example of why most of the damaged items aren't wieldable, as is seen in the Impaled Guthan's Helm.

A bunch of stuff I made for the Dungeon fake. Somehow, none of them ever got used, despite the fact that The Darkest said he liked them.

A logo which was never used. At first The Darkest decided the old logo/banner was better. A long time after, Dr Mitchell severely degraded the quality of the logo, and everyone said it should be fixed. When I PM'ed Mitchell with this banner, his only response was "We don't accept help from strangers", disregarding the fact that I was previously an Omega member, and disregarding further PMs I sent him on the matter.

This was a hatless version of the Omega Logo I PMed to Mitchell, he also refused to use it.

A while ago, I was working behind-the-scenes with Lord Nihilus on developing a website for Omega. Nihilus was doing all of the HTML and planning the layouts, while I was working on graphics. The plans for the website, and the forums, were eventually cancelled, but these are the leftover graphics I have from it.

The British Fakers Legion

The British Fakers Legion (commonly abbreviated as "TBFL", and commonly misspelled as "TBLF") was a large faking group at Sal's Realm of RuneScape, founded and lead by Poke. It has had only one topic, but it was the largest topic at Sal's Realm for any faking group, with 148 pages. It was involved in a war with Omega. TBFL was a very active and open group, where anyone could do pretty much anything, but people usually stuck to making certain parts of the fake. I was in TBFL for about nine months, as I joined on April 5, 2009 and left on February 16th, 2010.

Just a few examples of watermark effects I made before I joined TBFL - painted on the floor, stamped on a roof, and hanging in the distance - examples of how to make a watermark that blends smoothly with the fake. The last one is just a joke about intrusive watermarking :p. NOTE that I only made the watermarks, not the fake itself.

Examples of a Joystick I made before joining TBFL. It was originally for piloting TBFL's Gliders in the "Saving Private Poke" fake, but was never used.

The joke that started a war - although Fake was the one who came up with the idea of "Saving Private Poke", we didn't know why Roald would capture him. I made a joke that "maybe he spraypainted a TBFL watermark on the wall", and we decided to use that as the reason Poke gets captured.

At one point we were planning on changing our name to "The World Fakers Legion". I joked that we should be "The Universal Fakers Legion", so we don't discriminate against aliens. As a joke, I said we'd also need new logos/watermarks, so I made these :p

This is an unfinished fake that was going to be used in the Star Trek fake, but, as that fake was canceled, we never used it.

This is the final fake of TBFL, as well as the last TBFL fake I participated on. I did practically everything in this fake, with the exceptions of coming up with the idea, getting character screenshots, editing some characters' clothes, and making the fake awards in the inventory. I did the whole interface, except the TBFL CC icon was half-made by someone else, and the folder icon is based on someone else's idea. I also made the minimap, rollercoaster, Chaoss's character, Ambo's head, and various fake items entirely from scratch (including all items held/worn by the ghosts). I got the screenshots of the following characters as well: all ghosts, my character, TEB, Ultimate Arco, iHerty, Gonza, and Da Scotsman. Finally, I came up with the chatbox and text. Here is the above image, with everyone saying their names (the two ghosts on the bottom are generic and reference no particular member):

Note that some text uses colors not used in game, and some text seems cut off - this is because they were using text effects such as glow, scroll, and slide. Also, note that there is an explanation for this fake and its apparent randomness: it was made after several members decided to leave. The members on the roller-coaster are those who chose to leave, while the ones on the ground chose to stay. The ghosts are members who had retired or quit long before. The items are fake awards made by several members of the group, listed in the order that they joined. Gallen's text happens to be an in-joke, as is the TBFL glider, Poke's hot online gf, Charlie the faking dog, and the security interface button (camera at bottom-left) and guthix icons. Poke is our leader, which is why he is flying. The sunset is a symbol of the end of a good day, hence I felt such an effect would be rather fitting. Finally, you can see the fake here without any text at all, allowing you to spot all the details:

Royal Omega Fakers Legion

This is what was left after Omega and TBFL died - a combination of the two groups, with members from both. Me and The Darkest were elected to be the first two leaders in a poll. Its setup is to have two leaders, no particular ranks with the exception of leaders, and generally to be a combination of TBFL and Omega:

As I was elected alongside The Darkest to be a leader, I am a member from the start - March 27, 2010.

The Royal Omega Faking Legion: March 27, 2010 - August 2, 2010 - I was a leader in this, the first ROFL topic.

Unfortunately, the group did not accomplish much, and I was one of the few people to do any faking at all. It has gone dormant for the time being until Sal's Realm gets active enough to have a group open.

Here are various things I have done in this group:

My designs for the groups flag and emblem. The first is a more detailed version to only be used in backgrounds, while the second is for flags and crests, and the third is more of a symbol of the group. The design is based on both the Omega symbol (flipped and blended with itself) and the Union Jack.

This was going to be ROFL's first fake, but we never finished. Ewout was one of the only two or three people to get a picture of his character - I edited his in, and "de-antialiased" it (his computer couldn't display RS without AA). Anyways, with the exception of taking the character pic, I did the whole above fake, with quite a bit of help from the Orb of Oculus. Here is how it was supposed to turn out:

This is as far as I managed to get with the castle design - you can at least see the interior layout of the first floor.
