"Namtoksaak Rithoi" is a ritualistic prayer recited by the village priest at a function commemorating the settlement of the village. It is performed once every year in that particular ritual. It invokes the blessings of the Almighty God. The one given here is that of Haochong village. it was recited by the priest-head of the village namely Mr. Bathusiba Inka sometime in the late 1990s and tape-recorded by the his children and transcripted by K. Alung Khumba. It has its great significance not only in the invocation of God's blessings but also in its being an oral history passed down from one generation to another telling about the origin of man, discovery of fire, water, paddy and the beginning of social life.
