Chamseddine Bouhafs

Chamseddine BOUHAFS is a senior researcher at INESC Microsistemas e Nanotecnologias (INESC-MN) and an expert in developing functional materials for next-generation electronic devices.

He obtained his Ph.D. in semiconductor physics from the Institute of Technology at Linköping University, Sweden, in 2016. During his PhD work, he investigated the Electronic Properties of Graphene on Silicon Carbide, with applications aimed at ultrafast electronics

Following his Ph.D., Dr. Bouhafs held the following positions where he worked on the following topics:

At INESC-MN, he aims to develop next-generation advanced functional materials and devices (2D materials, semiconductor nanostructures, and material thin films) to bridge the gap between fundamental science and practical applications, and to drive R&D advancements.

Throughout his career, Dr. Bouhafs has actively participated in various national, industrial, and EU projects. He was involved in the graphene flagship and the International Training Network (ITN) on Functional Interfaces for SiC. His contributions to the field were recognized with the prestigious Marie Sklodowska-Curie fellowship, high-impact publications, and patents.
