1982 Tony Bettenhausen 200

Network: ESPN

Date and time: August 1, 1982, 3:00 PM

Format: Live

Length: 2 and a half hours

The race was broadcast live and flag-to-flag on ESPN. It included a tribute to Jim Hickman, who had died that morning after a crash suffered in the previous day's practice session.

One new feature included in the telecast was the "serial scoring" feature, which showed the top 5 after every 10 laps of the race. They also gave a report on the standings for NASCAR's Talladega 500, which had happened that same day.

It appears not all feeds of ESPN covered the entire race, as Bob Jenkins "welcomed" viewers around 80 laps in.
