Research and Data

Pakistan Financial Database

The following data are the results of efforts spreading over many years. The sole purpose of providing all the hard-to-find/compile-data is to help researchers in Pakistan. Me and my colleagues had gone through rounds of difficult times to approach many institutions while collecting data for our PhD theses. We want to facilitate others in avoiding such time-consuming activities. We hope that these efforts will facilitate financial researchers in Pakistan at large. In return, We expect prayers. Also, We expect others to cooperate by sending in other helpful data so that the same can be made available on this page.

The data is organized in five main categories. The first is the annual reports of the listed companies of Pakistani Stock Exchange. This section provides access to annual reports of companies listed at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (Formerly known as the Karachi Stock Exchange) from the year 1996 to 2015. The annual reports of both the financial sector companies and non-financial sector companies are maintained separately. Various formats are available for this data such MS Excel and PDF, summarized and full reports, etc.

The second category contains share prices data of the listed companies from 1999 to 2015. Further, this section provides data related to dividend announcements by the Pakistani listed companies, company names and symbols, and many other statistics.

The third and fourth categories provide macroeconomic and monetary data of Pakistan. Examples of this data set includes GDP growth rate of Pakistan, T-bills rates of Pakistan, discount rates, inflation rates. And the final category provides foreign exchange rates of Pakistani rupee etc.
