INVESTMENT ANALYSIS & PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT

Summary

This course aims at covering theoretical and well as practical aspects of investment decisions process, investment strategies, portfolio management and assets valuations. Besides fundamental analysis, standard tools and techniques of technical analysis are also covered. The course has four rigorous assignments that involve extensive use of MS Excel and practical data from the Karachi Stock Exchange.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

§  Know investment alternatives

§  Optimally diversify and make efficient portfolios

§  Allocate funds between risk-free and risky assets and choose portfolio as par the risk tolerance of investors

§  How to trade at KSE

§  How margin financing at KSE works

§  Calculate cost of equity with CAPM and DDM

§  Value stocks and bonds and find under/over-valued stocks

§  Understand various technical indicators like stochastic oscillator, MACD, DMA, RSI etc.
