When the images are first imported off a camera, there is some work to be done to determine which images are the best story-telling or artistic images to keep. We will NOT keep every image that we take, we should be able to tell right off the bat which images will not work for our purposes.
1. Backs of heads/No Faces:
Shutter speed too slow, creates blurry image of subject -> Delete
3. Out of Focus
background is sharp, subject is not -> Delete
4. Unflattering. Your job is to make everyone look their best, if you think there's something about the picture that the person will not like, err on the side of caution and let it go.
nobody wants an up-the-nose picture! -> Delete
5. Underexposed/Overexposed: In some software we can fix exposure slightly before we upload to Jostens, but if an image is too far under or over exposed, and isn't saveable - delete them.
This is underexposed, but we can probably fix it.
This is underexposed, and can't be fixed -> delete
This is overexposed and can't be fixed -> delete
6. Multiples: When you have multiple shots of the same subject, same environment, choose the best and delete the rest.
No->Delete
No->DeleteNo->DeleteNo->DeleteNo->DeleteNo->Delete
No->DeleteYES! ->KEEP!
7. Boring Pictures: Wish there was a better way to say it but some pictures are just boring, they're not interesting to look at, they look random, and they don't tell us anything worthwhile about the subject.
Great exposure, great composition, kind of a boring moment->Delete
Blah->Delete
