Election Laws in the U.S.

One of my current projects is a simple aggregation and mapping/tabulation of election laws in the United States — things like voter identification (ID) requirements, full online voter registration (FOVR) provisions, and early voting. I am endlessly fascinated by voting, especially in the United States where it has been used by so many to achieve ends so varied as to seem, on occasion, the root of all chaos. To my knowledge, there is not a single, comprehensive, and interactive source for this information across voting rules so I have decided to make one. 

As of February 24, 2020, the resource is a complete repository of the available data on voter ID between 1988 and the present from this National Council of Stage Legislatures page: https://www.ncsl.org/research/elections-and-campaigns/voter-id-history.aspx. Future efforts will supplement the existing visualization with more information about voter ID laws as well as other election rules.
