Thanks for arriving at my website! Here you can find some personal info. I was born in Alkmaar (Netherlands). I received my high-school education at the Murmellius gymnasium (1996, Alkmaar). I then moved to Amsterdam to study theoretical physics at the University of Amsterdam (2001). After that I did a PhD in atmospheric dynamics with Theo Opsteegh at Utrecht University (2006). I then moved to Reading (UK) to work for two and a half year as a postdoc at the University of Reading on baroclinic instability theories. In the summer of 2009 we moved back to the Netherlands and in September 2009 I started working at KNMI, first as a postdoc. In this period I worked on cold winters and atmospheric blocking. Since 2013, I am a permanent staff member in the R&D Weather and Climate division of KNMI.
