Thanks for arriving at my website! Here you can find some personal info. I was born in Alkmaar (Netherlands) in 1978. I received my high-school education at the Murmellius gymnasium (1996, Alkmaar). I then moved to Amsterdam to study theoretical physics at the University of Amsterdam (2001). After that I did a PhD in atmospheric dynamics with Theo Opsteegh at Utrecht University (2006). I then moved to Reading (UK) to work for two and a half year as a postdoc at the University of Reading on baroclinic instability theories, together with John Methven and Brian Hoskins. In the summer of 2009 we moved back to the Netherlands and in September 2009 I started working at KNMI, first as a postdoc. In this period I worked on cold winters and atmospheric blocking. Since 15th of March 2013, I am a permanent staff member in the R&D Weather and Climate division of KNMI.
