Introduction:
My project is based on the concept behind smoke rings. Smoke rings work as examples of the Herman Von Helmnotz theory. His theory states that there is a ring of air that comes from within the container to the outside with smoke moving forward in spherical rotation. This is because of the movement of particles inside the container. can there be such spherical air mass that exist the cannon?
Materials:
10 paper cups, 1 cylinder cannon, 1 bottle of 8oz(260ml) of Fantasy FX Professional Haze, desk and an individual.
Scientific Principle:
The vortex motion theory describes what happens when a mass of air is blown out from a container. The mass of air due to friction between particles of the air and the ring (being formed inside) causes the particles that are outside to be pushed in a backwards direction, as the inner particles come forward. This formed vortex ring fades because of friction slowing down the air particles.
Procedures:
* Find an area that is clear and in no danger to the flammable Haze.
*Stack foam cups in a pyramid on a desk.
* Prepare the cannon to receive Haze
* Spray Haze for approximately less than a minute onto the inside of the cannon through open whole.
* Individual will tap opposite end of the cannon, when he/she has completed inputting Haze, towards the foam cups direction to try and knock the cups down.
