Smoke ring in action...
Introduction:
My project is based on the concept behind smoke rings. smoke rings work as examples of Herman Von Helmnotz theory which states that there is a ring of air that comes from within the container to the outside with smoke moving forward in a spherical rotation. This is because of the movement of particles inside the container.
Driving Question
Can there be such air mass friction inside and out side to form and gradually disappear a smoke ring?
Procedure:
* Find an area that is clear and in no danger for flammable Haze.
* Stack the foam cups in a pyramid on a flat surface.
* Prepare the cannon to receive Haze.
* Spray Haze for approximately 45 seconds (on the side of the cannon with the whole) inside the container.
* The individual well now tap the end of the cannon that doesn't have a whole towards the foam cups and wait for results.
Materials:
10 Foam cups, 1 cylinder cannon, 1 bottle of 8 oz (260 ml) of Fantasy FX Professional Haze, an area and a person.
Safety Regulations (Haze):
Do not expose the fog directly to sun or fire. Extremely flammable. Do not puncture or incinerate Haze bottle. Avoid contact with heat. 120F storage. Do no expose directly to individual. Keep away from children.
Scientific Principle:
The vortex motion theory describes what happens when a mass of air is blown out from the container. the mass of air due to friction between particles of the air and the ring (being formed inside) causes the particles that are outside to be pushed in a backwards direction, as the inner particles come forward. This formed vortex ring fades because of friction slowing down the air particles.
