The Old Exchange

The HoEAS meeting rooms are situated in the Old Telephone Exchange, Furnace End, North Warwickshire (three miles East of Shustoke) on the B4098 ~ 20-m from the crossroads (N 52d 31' 10".01   W 01d 38' 08".57).  The building is a converted 'old' telephone exchange, which members transformed over a period of a year with working parties every Sunday.   There is plenty of private parking in the grounds of the telephone exchange.

The rooms consist of a comfortably sized lecture room capable of seating around 25 people, and a kitchen area.

The 25cm f6 telescope can be seen at the back.

The grounds to the Old Exchange offers quite dark skies considering we are just 20 miles east of the centre of Birmingham.
This is the view looking South West.  In clear transparent skies, the ZLM (Zenith Limiting Magnitude) is +6.0.
The larger BT exchange also in the grounds, houses one of the largest Pipistrelle Bat maternal roosts in the Midlands.
Amongst the instruments owned by the HoEAS are an Orion Optics 25cm f6 Newtonian reflector (no image yet), a 20cm f10 Newtonian reflector,
a 15cm f8 Newtonian reflector, and a parallelogram binocular mount for 16x70 binoculars.
The Society also own a Coronado PST, which is on permanent loan to members for a period of one week each, and a DMK 31 AUOB.AS CCD Camera which is also on permanent loan to members for a two week period.
