NEW - 12/8/2018 we added a button to the control panel that allows switching between TX and TX for remote operation. I plan to update the screen shots at some point.
Scroll to the bottom of this page and on the right side of the screen click on the down-pointing blue arrow across from RS-UV3 CONTROL PANEL.ZIP to download the file.
When this dialog box appears, click 'Open':
Then drag-and-drop the RS-UV3 Control Panel to the desktop (or other convenient location).
To run the program, open the RS-UV3 Control Panel folder by double-clicking on the icon:
Then double-click on the HobbyPCB icon:
The first time you run the program, you'll get a warning that the file was downloaded from the internet and the publisher is unknown. You have to go past it and open it anyway.
The next time you run the program it will just start normally.
1. Displays the RS-UV3A receive and transmit frequency. If you click on this panel, the frequency control window will pop-up and allow you to enter a new frequency:
Enter a new frequency in the text box, in MHz. Unless you click 'TX ONLY' this will become the receive frequency. You can automatically set the transmit frequency with up or down repeater offsets, or simplex (RX and TX the same).
'RX ONLY' and 'TX ONLY' allow you to set one or the other and cancel will exit the window without changing the frequency.
2. S-Meter - Displays the signal strength of the received signal.
3. Memory Channel - Clicking on 1 - 9 recalls the channel parameters stored in the RS-UV3A's channel memories. If check the ST box the current settings will be stored in the corresponding memory channel when you click a channel button.
4. Volume and Squelch controls.
5. ID Button - Sends an audio CW ID message. The message is set using the CL command and the speed and audio tone frequency can be set with CF and CS commands. See the RS-UV3A command reference for specific details. Remember to issue a ST0 command to store the setting as the power-on defaults.
6. More Button - expands the window to include a place to enter specific commands and view the responses. The window also shows the commands/responses associated with other control on the app. Clicking the button a second time removes the additional controls.
7. Tone Squelch Panel - Sets the tone squelch frequency and state. These settings are stored in the channel parameter set and, it stored properly, will be recalled when a new channel is selected. If you change the settings remember to store them.
8. TX/RX Indicators - TX turns red when the RS-UV3 is transmitting and RX turns green when the squelch is open.
Pro Tip - If you edit the logo.bmp file using Paint are similar app, you can change the HobbyPCB logo to your call sign, name or maybe a picture of your cat.
